International Education Experience

Smart Start Stars, Mutiara Damansara

If you’d like an international education experience for your child, Smart Start Stars would be a great fit. The syllabus here follows the British National Curriculum and lessons are carried out through the Play Way Method (also known as learning through play).

Teaching and leaning are made to be meaningful and lots of fun. Programme Manager, Lina Miller, says,

We incorporate lesson material we know kids will enjoy, because then they will engage more in class.

Lina is a native English speaker, who has trained in Canada and the UK, and has taught in different countries. She brings a unique international flavour to the learning at Smart Start Stars, which is undoubtedly a valuable feature.

Parents have seen little ones develop in a well-rounded way since joining the preschool—picking up lots of academic knowledge, learning impressive social and language skills, and developing lots of healthy confidence!

Enticing Open-Concept Layout

Smart Start Stars has a very bright and inviting open-concept space.

Lina shares, “Our parents seem to be really attracted to our open concept. I think it works to our advantage because it creates that sense of play, which is what we want.

“We use dividers to manipulate the space, and kids pick up on the idea quite quickly. They understand that we have specific zones for certain activities.”

There are spaces to do art, science experiments, exercise, and play—all within a large space that feels liberating and non-stressful. It’s no wonder both kids and parents love it here.

Passionate, Qualified Educators

Smart Start Stars, Mutiara Damansara

The teachers at Smart Start Stars are qualified, experienced and have a deep passion for early childhood education.

Notably, teachers here also have qualifications and experience working with special needs. Lina, for example, has trained to work with special needs students and Teacher Sarah has worked for 10 years as a special needs educator.

Another teacher here has experience working with special needs while in Melbourne.

It is clear that the children at Smart Start Stars have a wonderful connection with their teachers, as I personally saw how comfortable they were expressing themselves around the team members.

Safe, Secure and Clean

Parents will feel at ease knowing that there’s a manned reception desk at the entrance of Smart Start Stars, controlling the entry of parents and visitors. Additionally, the centre has five CCTV cameras and two doorways one has to go through in order to reach the main learning space.

Health is also taken seriously here, where the centre practices daily cleaning and sanitizing. The preschool has purposefully installed hospital-grade floors, chosen for its superior hygienic qualities and ease of cleaning.

The air filtration system is also routinely checked, serviced and cleaned every two weeks.

Flexible and Understanding

Another unique thing about Smart Start Stars that parents might find very appealing, is their flexibility in terms of enrolment.

Parents are able to choose the number of days in a week their kids will go to school. There are three packages to choose from (3 days, 4 days, or 5 days). Furthermore, half day (8am-12pm) and full day (8am-6pm) options are available.

For children at this age, not all parents want to send their kids to school full-time. They may think it’s too much time away from mom and dad. For some families, 3 or 4 days a week works perfectly, – Lina explains.

Prices will vary accordingly and parents may find it more affordable than other preschool options.

Great Relationships with Parents

Looking through Smart Start Stars’ parents’ testimonials, one would be in awe. 100% of parents who were surveyed the year before reported positive progress in their kids.

Lina shares, “If you were to talk to our parents, they’d tell you that we’re really good at taking on their feedback. When we ask them things and they give us suggestions, we almost always take them on.”

Among the suggestions that the preschool has taken aboard are ideas for field trips, school projects/events, and different ways to make the school more “green”, e.g. reusing, reducing, and recycling materials for art & crafts, for example.

The team at Smart Start Stars build a healthy relationship with parents because they want to listen to them and give them what they want for their kids.

“It all comes back to our flexibility, and how we like to build our lessons around our students—and in my experience, happy kids equals happy parents, – says Lina.
