When discussing schools, we often talk about the strengths of the curriculum, instructional approaches, resources, tools and techniques. While all these are important, so is the presence of a safe, consistent and supportive learning environment. Rightly, that is where the programme at Q-dees begins. In the world of early childhood education, Q-dees need no further introduction. It has grown considerably over the decades to where it sits now with a strong impression of quality education, and the school certainly lives up to its reputation.

A Time-tested, Innovative Learning Programme

The programme is a strength – one that integrates extensive curricular and extracurricular offerings with creative teaching methodologies and innovative technology. Education starts with the Early Discovery Programme designed for children aged 3. The intention is to equip young learners with the confidence and skills to help them flourish intellectually and emotionally through the following:

Teachers engage children through the Q-dees Link & Think methodology, whereby the learning experience is consolidated across creative teaching techniques, fun learning, interactive educational tools and intellectually stimulating activities. Learning incorporates hands-on activities, action-packed stories, fun rhymes, catchy songs and active movement. Numeracy and literacy enforcement is intensive; the mastery of languages focuses on English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin. Plentiful opportunities are available for children to hone their presentation skills on stage and be confident to express themselves in front of others. Being academically capable and creatively sound is key, so is exuding good character values, respect and compassion to others. Activities work towards developing children to be all-rounded individuals – adept intellectually, physically, morally, artistically and socially.   

Classroom appointments are up-to-date including in-class technology that incorporates a full range of instructional devices and applications. All resources are applied in sympathy with the core program and the values that underpin it. Lessons are delivered in small classes with a low student-to-teacher ratio. Though the daily routine is regimented and discipline is enforced, children are given considerable latitude to be themselves and express their voices. Each child is treated as an individual and is given every opportunity to be “the best that they can be” in a stimulating environment.    

Extracurriculars and Enrichment

The entire learning spectrum includes a rich selection of extracurricular activities and after-school enrichment classes. Extracurricular activities include field trips, celebration of festivals, sports day, concert performances and holiday programmes; after-school enrichment includes storytelling, robotics, music and cookery. A key element of the school is the supportive team of nurturing, trained and loyal teachers, augmented by an atmosphere that is quite close-knit and personal. Parents are kept updated and involved in their children’s learning journey. Educational services extend to include primary school tuition for children aged 7 to 12 years on five main subject disciplines: Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mandarin, Mathematics and Science.

Children who attend the school are exposed to an experience central to the values of the school: “Learn to Love, Love to Learn, Love the Community”. The focus is directed to encourage self-motivation, self-confidence, independence and towards preparing children for the diverse world out there.
