Little PaL is not a traditional preschool, but a place of learning that strives to protect and preserve the raw essence of childhood. Here, each individual child is provided with an opportunity to socialise, create, discover, and build self-confidence as they learn and master new skills.
Established in 2015, Little PaL has a long tradition of providing a warm and nurturing atmosphere for children to learn through creative activities and free exploration. Little PaL is a big believer that children learn best when they are enjoying themselves. The principal thus places more emphasis on learning through play, giving the child a choice about what s/he wants to learn and what s/he wants to do.
Educational Programmes
Teachers at Little PaL are college educated, many with master’s if not bachelor’s degrees and teaching certificates. They were hired based not only on experience needed to instil a love of learning in children but are also adequately qualified with relevant teaching qualifications. Following the EYFS and UK National Curriculum KS1 Syllabus, children at Little Pal are taught mostly through games and meaningful play.
Children develop at their own rates, in their own ways. Recognising this, the principal went to great lengths to ensure the curriculum is written and taught to respond to the interests, temperament, style of social interaction and approach of learning of each individual child at Little PaL. Little PaL is a big believer in the benefits of “PLAY WELL, LEARN WELL” learning approach. PLAY WELL means a child is to learn to share, be grateful and content. LEARN WELL teaches a child to be independent and what responsibility is; often with an emphasis on character building. Little Pal is a place of learning that practices a policy of NO TEXTBOOK, NO WORKBOOK; children come only to learn how to learn.
Apart from British curriculum (EYFS), thematic lessons with are also taught at Little PaL. They were planned based on their interests; aimed to help children have a better understanding of the world. With the use of powerpoint slides and videos discussing mother earth, Little PaL strives to facilitate a long-lasting connection between children and the natural world.
Facilities
Occupying two units of the semi-detached house on spacious corner lots, Little PaL is embedded in nature, surrounded by greens in the quiet area of houses off Jalan Putra Bahagia.
Little PaL has bright, purpose-built classrooms, with a secure, fenced green schoolyard for outdoor play. The preschool seeks to provide a child-friendly learning environment which respects each individual child, no matter their learning level or interests. Other facilities include a well-stocked library, reading corners, learning corners, a kitchen, a nap room and a small performance stage. Good nutrition and a balanced diet help kids grow up healthy. In efforts to ensure that children get off to a great start and obtain enough nutrients from their diet, Dr Pang, a nutrition consultant has designed a menu consisting of nutritionally balanced meals.
The principal recognises the importance of parent involvement in early childhood education, at Little Pal, parents are welcome to visit the classroom at any time. The preschool also organises social events from time to time and parents are always invited to participate. A school app makes it easy for parents to keep up to date with what’s happening with their child at school. Security cameras are installed to monitor the building and oversee entry and exit to/from the school. Video surveillance keeps students safe and gives parents peace of mind.
