Brain Dance, Mutiara Heights, Kajang (Tadika Manja Cemerlang)

Believing that language is the most powerful learning tool of all, Ms. Wong started off by providing a reading programme to children. And due to the hard work and dedication of Ms. Wong and her teachers, the programme was a success and soon the parents requested for her to offer more by starting a kindergarten. Realising that her present reading programme was not enough for a kindergarten, Ms. Wong began researching preschool programmes that were available.

Ms. Wong was introduced to Dr. Connie Wan and the Brain Dance Education System by a colleague. She immediately saw the uniqueness of the Brain Dance programme and decided to implement it in her kindergarten, her first, in Kajang Prima, Kajang. Initially the programme took some getting used to as this new concept initiated learning through activities and learning through play – unlike the more academic based programmes available at the time. With this radical new programme, she had to win the parents over and she had to produce results. Today she stands vindicated and time has shown that her decision to take Brain Dance on board was the right one.

Brain Dance is a programme focused upon providing an interactive, fun and activity based learning experience for young children. It cultivates holistic and happy children by embedding in its programmes principles and skills that turn on the vital learning mode of the children’s young minds. By having various approaches to empower the children to learn alongside our ever-changing society, Brain Dance inculcates in the children the power of learning to learn.

With a firm belief that a successful future should be secured by being trilingual, English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin are taught in conjunction with each other. Having highly qualified and well-trained educators to engage the students in cross-curricular lessons, plus a reading list that encompass skills that extend from artistic talent, emotional quotient development, mathematical ability to social capability, the educational value of the lessons is maximized.

Academic programmes are synergized with its extracurricular programme so as to provide the most holistic and child centric preschool education programme available. Concerts are staged to empower the children to showcase their talent for performing and the arts. It also instills in the children lifelong self-confidence. Field trips are organized so that the children realise that not all learning come from books. Learning can also take the form of nature and the environment around them and that they can also learn through touch, sight, feeling and smell. A strong emphasis on roleplaying, puppetry and dance classes also help the children develop empathy and the awareness of others.

Very strict and precise rules and regulations are in place governing the students’ safety, hygiene and well-being. Food and meals are prepared fresh by the principal herself and her schedule dictates that this chore should be completed come 8:30am. At which time she would be stationed at the entrance of the kindergarten ready to greet arriving parents and students.
