In Klebang, Melaka, a groundbreaking early years centre is redefining what childcare and preschool education can and should be. Bright Leaders Early Years Centre, founded by healthcare professional Ms. Ong Si Wen, is the first of its kind in Malaysia, a centre where early childhood education is seamlessly integrated with healthcare science, preventive developmental support, nutrition intelligence, and a one-of-a-kind syllabus called EmpowerME™.
For parents searching for a place where wellbeing, emotional intelligence, brain development, safety, healthcare, and strong character formation begin from infancy, Bright Leaders stands out as a truly transformative choice.
A Healthcare Professional’s Mission to Transform Early Childhood
Before creating Bright Leaders, Ms. Si Wen spent more than 10 years working in hospitals and healthcare settings. Her experience opened her eyes to an alarming trend.
“More and more children are struggling with focus, attention, social skills – challenges that are preventable when addressed early,” she explains.
“Many of these difficulties come from environment, not genetics. And parents today often don’t know how to play, stimulate, or support these skills during the early years.”
This realisation sparked her mission: to build an early years centre that combines healthcare science + early childhood education to prevent developmental delays before they arise.
Bright Leaders is not a special needs school, but its preventive healthcare approach aims to reduce the risk of children developing avoidable challenges such as speech delay, low attention span, poor social skills, weak muscle tone, slow coordination, and emotional instability.
The First 1,000 Days: The Foundation of Every Child’s Future
One of the strongest philosophies guiding the centre is the science-backed belief in the importance of the First 1,000 Days – from pregnancy to age three.
“Character, brain pathways, focus and even emotional regulation start forming from pregnancy,” says Si Wen. “These early years are critical. The way children are stimulated, held, spoken to and engaged shapes who they become.”

Bright Leaders aims to support families even before a child is born. A future programme for pregnant mothers will offer practical hands-on sessions, emotional support, and early stimulation techniques — a first in Melaka’s early education landscape.
EmpowerME™: A Syllabus Built on Neuroscience, Psychology & Character
At the heart of Bright Leaders lies its signature programme – EmpowerME™, a scientifically designed syllabus built by healthcare professionals, counsellors, psychologists, and early childhood specialists.
This programme emphasises:
- Sex education from infancy (age-appropriate body awareness, safety, boundaries)
- Emotional intelligence & self-protection
- Positive self-talk & self-confidence
- Leadership behaviours from early childhood
- Brain stimulation & muscle development
- Social communication skills
- Focus & attention strengthening
“We don’t just teach children to be kind to others. We teach them to love and protect themselves first,” Si Wen highlights. “Confidence begins with self-confidence. Only when a child believes in themselves can they become a leader in their own way.” EmpowerME™ is trademark-bound, fully created and owned by Bright Leader.
Healthcare-Level Care: Nurses, Doctors, Counsellors, Physiotherapists & Dietitians
This centre is designed as a one-stop hub for children’s healthcare and education, easing the burden on parents and ensuring every child receives complete, timely care within the centre itself. As Ms. Si Wen explains, “We combine healthcare science with education so children receive the right stimulation at the right age.” The centre integrates a full healthcare ecosystem into daily operations, including:
- Registered staff nurse caring for infants
- Regular doctor visits with on-site & on-schedule vaccinations
- Counsellors & psychologists supporting emotional and behavioural growth
- Dieticians & nutritionists approving and monitoring all meals
- Developmental educators specialising in stimulation for ages 0–6
- Preventive assessments (autism-risk checks, sensory evaluations, motor-skill tracking)
This setup means parents no longer need to take leave, queue at clinics, or worry about missed appointments, everything happens in one place, under professional supervision. Cheers to a total peace of mind!
Nutrition as the Root of Learning & Focus
Nutrition is the foundation of learning. The centre firmly believes that good food builds strong brain performance, a principle grounded in healthcare science. As Ms. Si Wen puts it, “Body and mind work together. Good food builds a bright mind, and a bright mind leads to a bright future.”
Healthcare professionals curate all meals to support cognitive development, focus, learning capacity, emotional stability and lifelong eating habits. Infants receive freshly made purees instead of plain porridge, and the centre follows a strict no-processed-food and low-sugar policy. Specialised diet plans – even for children with Type 1 diabetes – ensure every child gets what their body needs.
Unique Programmes: Bungee Fitness, Physiotherapy-Based Activities & Sensorial Stimulation
Bright Leaders is also the first centre in Malaysia to introduce bungee fitness for kids under the Little Jumpers Club programme, thoughtfully integrated into its EmpowerME™ syllabus. Unlike typical recreational versions of the activity, this bungee fitness programme is designed to enhance:
- Body control
- Coordination
- Balance
- Motor planning
- Focus
- Strength
Daily physiotherapy-inspired activities further strengthen fine and gross motor skills, joint stability, muscle development and sensory processing. Together, these programmes provide children with a powerful blend of physical development and brain stimulation from an early age.
Safe, Purpose-Built Environment Designed for Expression & Growth
Every piece of furniture in Bright Leaders is custom-made with safety, independence, and stimulation in mind – from infant bars and mirrors that encourage natural standing development, to open learning zones that spark curiosity and movement. The environment is designed to invite children to explore, not restrict them.

LEADO – Not Teachers, But Leaders Who Guide
In Bright Leaders, teachers are known as Leado, a term that reflects the school’s philosophy of guidance, empowerment and leadership. These Leados come from multidisciplinary backgrounds, including healthcare professionals, counsellors, psychologists, dieticians and early childhood specialists.
Together, they form a highly skilled team capable of addressing every dimension of a child’s growth; emotional, cognitive, physical and social. This collective expertise ensures that each child receives not only high-quality education but also the healthcare-informed support required to thrive holistically.
New Benchmark for Melaka & Malaysia
Bright Leaders aims to expand to Seremban eventually – and later other states – but for now, Klebang is home to this pioneering concept.
“We are the only centre in Malaysia that combines healthcare and early childhood education in such a comprehensive way,” says Si Wen confidently.
More than a preschool, it is a healthcare-informed early development ecosystem, a leadership incubator, and a preventive, science-backed environment where every child begins life with clarity, confidence and strength.
For parents seeking a centre that nurtures bright minds, bright futures and bright leaders – this is where the journey begins.
