La Grande Discovery Kids Child Care Centre (Taska La Grande), Mont Kiara opened its doors 6 years ago and is recognised by parents in the local community as a high quality, trustworthy child care facility. Always keeping the needs of families in mind, the centre strives to provide a safe and warm environment for children 11 months and above. It aims to nurture each child’s unique qualities and potentials so that s/he can face the outside world, academically and socially.
An Optimal Setting
There are half day and full day programmes up to 3pm that are offered within a comfortably prepared space, designed to mimic a child’s home environment. It is beautifully decorated with murals and displays of children’s works. Classrooms are brightly lit with natural light and well-equipped with plenty of learning materials that encourage children to read and explore. Being situated within secure guarded perimeters, children have the opportunity to head outdoors and learn through their senses. With proper safety procedures and a thorough sanitisation routine in place, especially during times like now, parents can be assured that their children are in good hands.
Personalised to the Individual Child
At La Grande, teachers are aware that each child has a unique character and individual needs that require personalised attention. Therefore, teacher to child ratios are kept very low in order for children to participate, grow out of their shells and progress with confidence. Teachers observe children’s intellectual requirements and interests, then plan activities that are engaging and developmentally appropriate. They are also sensitive to children’s emotional well-being, providing necessary support needed.
Fun Learning and Diverse Curriculum for Primary School Readiness
Learning here is fun, exciting and filled with discoveries. It adheres to a rich curriculum that maximises children’s full potential in all aspects of their development. Given children’s natural curiosity to explore their environment, teachers make sure to keep things interesting with an array of hands-on activities such as games, stories, role play, songs and exercises that stimulate all senses. This gets the learning juices flowing, children will be driven by their interests to participate and they can easily retain knowledge without feeling like it’s a chore. The next thing they know, they will be armed with a strong set of transferable skills, adaptability and very importantly a strong love of learning that will see them through primary school (private, government or international schools).
While it’s fun and games, teachers stress the importance of maintaining high levels of academic achievement, as well as social competence. They set clear, consistent rules and model appropriate social behaviours allowing children to take responsibility for their choices and learn to respect one another.
As mentioned, all aspects of children’s development are addressed meticulously and that means from inside out – nutrition. Children are fed wholesome homestyle meals that are whipped up in-house with a variety of fresh ingredients.
