Clover Learning Centre is a close community of joyful children, supportive families and dedicated teachers working together to provide an enriched learning environment to children aged 2.5 to 6 years. Each individual child is guided and nurtured under the personal supervision of qualified and experienced Montessori trained teachers. The application of Montessori principles ensures that all aspects of the child’s development are consistently encouraged. With a small children-teacher ratio, each child receives the individual attention necessary to promote independence, cooperation, self-discipline, kindness, and respect for all things, great and small. Children at Clover Learning Centre learn, play, sing and laugh. It is a happy journey of building foundations for a lifetime of creative learning.

Individualised Learning At One’s Own Pace

At the heart of the curriculum offered here is the understanding that each child learns differently and has different strengths and individual needs. To awaken this unique potential to its fullest, the environment is meticulously prepared to enable optimal development. It is structured for children to learn in a natural way, at their own pace, and feel at ease like an extension of their own home. Children are allowed to self-select exercises across a multitude of areas including practical life, sensorial education, mathematics, culture, biology, geography, history, science, literacy, zoology, botany, art appreciation, music and physical education. Alongside the curriculum, children also spend a lot of time outdoors, playing, exploring and planting. The indoor classroom is seamlessly connected to the outdoor classroom, optimising the way children interact with the environment and use their senses.  

Nurturing Self-Motivated and Independent Children

The approach at Clover Learning Centre nurtures self-motivation since children learn to enjoy and find pleasure in their learning. Children are encouraged to work at an exercise for as long as needed to master a skill before advancing to the next step, when they are ready. Coupled with child-sized materials that are placed at the child’s eye level, children’s independence is naturally developed.

Freedom Within Boundaries

Another beautiful aspect of the learning approach adopted here is the freedom that is given to the children to pursue their own curiosity. Each child can learn and play freely, move around as needed, choose their own activities and work where it is comfortable. He/she is given the opportunity to develop motor coordination and control of their bodies through the freedom of movement. Teachers follow this principle of freedom in the learning environment as long as it is within reasonable boundaries of appropriate behaviour. This way, children will feel content, and a sense of self-discipline, independence and respect for others and the environment will naturally follow. They will also discover a sense of wonder at their own individual abilities and this becomes a motivating force towards further challenges.

The dynamics of this open environment contribute to successful learning. Younger children benefit from watching older peers do their work. It helps them learn and look forward to future lessons. For the older ones, they benefit from being role models and leaders. This can help to strengthen their self-confidence, patience and understanding and acceptance of others.
