Ekids Child Development Centre celebrates 17 years of inspiring excellence in education and life to those within the community between the ages of 3 to 6 years. It is set within a resource-rich environment with supportive academic and creative facilities. Children are at the heart of its programming. It is the needs of the children that determine the learning and their interests that steer the experiences offered. Whatever their strengths, talents and unique abilities, the centre is committed to the continual pursuit of their personal best.
The positive energy with which the teachers infuse their classes is palpable. A peek through shows children eager to engage in activities. It is clear that children are happy to be there. Meticulous care for the individual and deep passion for learning characterize the entire faculty. The child-centred, teacher-guided model encourages children to make connections with one another, with the knowledge and ideas that fill their minds, and with their physical environment.

The Proven FunGates Learning Model
Educational programmes are guided by the learning and developmental framework of the FunGates education system – a system renowned for offering progressive, research-based and globally-minded programmes of early childhood education. Educational practices are also outlined by the principles and outcomes of the National Standard Preschool Curriculum. The aim is for the children to feel a sense of belonging within the environment, be an active contributor to the programmes and become lifelong learners in life.
Education for the 21st Century Student and Society
The centre is an exemplar of 21st century learning, one that supports children’s individual development with social values and an awareness of their surroundings. The model of education incorporates interdisciplinary themes to foster learning opportunities that promote the development of skills essential to prepare children for the future, namely creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, communication and collaboration. Learning takes place at all levels of multi-dimensional intelligence: intellectual, cognitive, social, emotional and physical. Activities strike a balance between structured lessons and open-ended sessions. Children are taught through project-based learning, cooperative sociodramatic play and hands-on experiences, all of which are directed toward matching the personal pace and strengths of each child and nurturing them. The culture promotes choice and equality through the understanding of the differences amongst the children. Children are encouraged to work in teams around goals and cooperate without competition.

While a good academic programme sits at the heart of the centre, the aim also extends to tap into the natural interest children have in the world that surrounds them. Relevant topics encourages thinking, imagination and creativity. Many opportunities are given for the children to construct their own meaning, explore possibilities and develop an authentic context for learning through sessions that encourage them to generate ideas, discuss with friends and share with the class.
Learning resources are carefully appointed and as such are easily accessible to all children throughout the day. The space within is open and free flow. Classes take place in large, collaborative learning areas that are fitted with interactive SMART Boards. Learning within such an environment trains children to heighten their focus, attentiveness and multitasking levels.

Fulfilling Community Responsibilities
The curriculum seeks a holistic approach by offering a complete framework across all dimensions of education, including character. Learning experiences at Ekids are about strengthening character qualities and values, having the capacity to make wise choices for a well-rounded life, and being able to serve the society as ethical citizens. Being engaged with the FunGates education system allows children to grow philanthropically, and the school to reach out to others who are in need of education, resources and safe spaces through the FunGates Superflow Foundation.

Collaborative Partnerships with Families
Building respectful and collaborative partnerships with families is an important component of the whole experience. Information about the children’s learning and development progress are shared on a timely basis. This is achieved through regular face-to-face communication, monthly “Growing Me” reports and parent-teacher meetings.
Cultivating Global Citizens
An Ekids education continues to develop and evolve so that children are fully prepared to cope with the needs of a rapidly changing world, to have deep self-awareness of their strengths, to develop concern for others, to create a better society, and to care for the community and the environment in which we live in.
