St Joseph’s International Institution Malaysia (SJIIM) was established in August 2016. Situated in the vicinity of Tropicana, Petaling Jaya, SJIIM is a continuation of two of Singapore’s most respected institutions, namely St. Joseph’s institution and St. Joseph’s Institution International School. Abiding by St. John Baptist De La Salle’s 300-year-old education mission, SJIIM aims to produce well-rounded individuals, whose approach to education is heavily anchored by Lasallian education ethos.

Being one of the educational organisations with an extensive history, SJIIM upholds the great tradition to continue to impart stimulating, values-driven education to students in a uniquely Lasallian way. Lasallian educational institutions have been in existence in Malaysia since 1852. St Xavier’s Penang, St John’s Kuala Lumpur and St Francis Malacca are just some of the many schools that have contributed greatly to the education of many generations of Malaysians.

The Early Years

SJIIM offers a comprehensive Early Years programme based on the Development Matters from the UK, better known as EYFS Framework to meet the needs of its international student body, thus providing a unique environment of cultural exchange and understanding. EYFS, in short, is the recognised, current standards in which school and childcare providers the world over are expected to meet, to ensure that children from birth to 5 learn and develop well. SJIIM places a strong emphasis on 7 areas of learning and development for Early years, namely:

To develop the whole child, and to make learning lively and relevant, Early Years education at SJIIM is heavily based on hands-on learning experiences, whereby education doesn’t only happen in the classroom, but also outside of the classroom. What’s more, SJIIM provides a calm yet industrious learning environment and is noted for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere, in which all children are valued, stimulated and challenged to develop their talents to the full, whatever their intellectual ability. In addition to EYFS, SJIIM also incorporates IEYS, an internationally-recognised curriculum for early years used by over 140 nurseries in 47 countries worldwide. Singapore Maths, UK’s Letters & Sound programme, Mandarin lessons and various co-curricular activities are also included in the curriculum. SJIIM’s Early Years programme provides more than just daycare, but a place for kids to begin their first journey of learning and make their first friends.
